O que eu aprenderei?

Acquire the skills and knowledge to gain a career in community and/or residential aged care facilities (Disability Services). Learn to provide personal care to people who may require support due to disability. Be trained in safety procedures and the legal and ethical framework of this sector.


This course is delivered over 26 weeks (including 6 weeks of holidays). Classes are rostered for 3 days per week. Weekday classes available. Full Time studies requires students to attend a minimum of 20 scheduled course contact hours per week.

The delivery methods for this course include:

  • Face-to-face classroom-based learning
  • Practical simulated activities in Stanley College ward
  • Work Based Training


Students must successfully complete the following units:

  • CHCCOM005 Communicate and work in health or community services
  • CHCDIV001 Work with diverse people
  • CHCCCS023 Support independence and well being
  • HLTAAP001 Recognise healthy body systems
  • CHCLEG001 Work legally and ethically
  • HLTWHS002 Follow safe work practices for direct client care
  • CHCCCS015 Provide individualised support
  • HLTINF001 Comply with infection prevention and control policies and procedures
  • HLTAID003 Provide first aid
  • CHCDIS001 Contribute to ongoing skills development using a strengths-based approach
  • CHCDIS002 Follow established person-centred behaviour supports
  • CHCDIS003 Support community participation and social inclusion
  • CHCDIS007 Facilitate the empowerment of people with disability


This qualification suits students seeking employment in the following job roles:

  • Disability Services Worker
  • Residential Care Officer
  • Community Worker
  • Disability Support Worker
  • Personal Care Giver
  • Residential Disability Support Worker
  • Respite Care Worker


On completion of the CHC33015 Certificate III in Individual Support, students may also pursue a CHC43015 Certificate IV in Ageing Support at Stanley College other CRICOS registered training organisations.
