The Master of Statistics program will enable you to specialise in any of a large number of areas, as well as receive rigorous training in core statistical application and theory. Learning Outcomes

Demonstrate statistical computing skills for use in quantitative and data-based problem solving. Understand and be able to apply the processes and applications of: multiple linear regression, survey design; mathematical statistics, stochastic modelling, generalised linear modelling techniques; the principles of data representation, summarisation and presentation; multivariate statistical techniques; and, the role and notion of both parametric and non-parametric statistics. Analyse complex problems by running and interpreting time series models involving dynamic volatility and/or trends. Analyse and interpret data in various contexts using appropriate methodology. Work independently and collaboratively to collect, process, interpret and communicate the outcomes of fundamental research questions in applied statistics.

Applicants must present a Bachelor degree or international equivalent with a minimum GPA of 5.0/7.0, with at least one course in the field of mathematics that must cover calculus and linear algebra.

Applicants with an ANU Graduate Certificate of Finance and Actuarial Statistics (Statistics specialisation) with a GPA of 4.5, with at least one course in the field of mathematics from university studies that must cover calculus and linear algebra.

Applicants with a Bachelor Degree or Graduate Certificate in a cognate discipline may be eligible for 24 units (one semester) of credit.

Applicants with a Graduate Diploma or Honours in a cognate discipline may be eligible for 48 units (one year) of credit.

Academic IELTS overall score of 6.5 with at least 6 in each component of the test; TOEFL internet based test score of 80, with a minimum of 20 in Reading and Writing and 18 in Speaking and Listening; TOEFL paper based test score of 570 with TWE score of 4.5; Cambridge CAE Advanced score of 176 overall with at least 169 in all sub skills; PTE Academic score of Overall 64, minimum score of 55 in each section.
