Mineral engineering is the applied science of our interaction with the planet. What sets the Lassonde Mineral Engineering program apart is our broad approach to the discipline. Here, you’ll learn mineral exploration, mine design and management, mineral processing and mining finance from researchers at the Lassonde Institute of Mining, as well as industry professionals. Applicants must have Grade 12 Diploma in an accredited high school with a high grade point average and SAT Reasoning/ACT exams and two SAT Subject Tests/APs/IBs (or a combination of SAT Subject Tests/APs/IBs covering two different subjects). Other English Language Requirements: TOEFL Paper-based Test total score of 600 + 5.0 on TWE; Michigan English Language Assessment Battery (MELAB) score of 85, with no part score below 80; Canadian Academic English Language Assessment (CAEL) score of 70 and no part below 60; Canadian Test of English for Scholars and Trainees (CanTEST) score of 4.5, and no part below 4; a minimum grade of C in the Cambridge English Proficiency/Certificate of Proficiency in English (CPE) or a minimum grade of B in the Cambridge English Advanced/Certificate in Advanced English (CAE).

International English Language Testing System (IELTS): The minimum requirement is an overall band of 6.5, with no band below 6.0.

Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL): The minimum scores required for the different TOEFL tests are:

Internet-based Test:

Minimum Requirement: total score of 100 + 22 on Writing

Discretionary Range: total score 89-99 +19 - 21 on Writing

Cambridge Assessment English C1: Advanced or C2: Proficiency: A minimum overall score of 180, with at least 170 in each component.

Canadian Academic English Language Assessment (CAEL): The minimum score required to meet our English facility requirement is an overall score of 70 and no part below 60.

Canadian Test of English for Scholars and Trainees (CanTEST): The minimum requirement is a total score of 4.5, and no part below 4.
