In our program, you’ll gain a strong foundation in linguistics, hands-on fieldwork, clinical observation, teaching practice and practical workshops to supplement your academic courses. We offer a choice of three majors:

Hearing Sciences or Speech and Language Sciences: In these majors, you’ll learn about basic science and communication processes, including the anatomy and physiology of speech and hearing, acoustics, linguistics, child language development and selected disorders of human communication.

Applied Linguistics/Teaching English as a Subsequent Language (TESL): In this major, you’ll study theories and methodologies relevant to learning and teaching English as a subsequent language. You may gain valuable experience in our co-op option.

Applicants must have Senior Secondary school credential appropriate for entry to university in your home country; academically rigorous grade 12 year; Minimum B- average (higher for some programs). Applicants who have successfully completed the IB diploma with the appropriate prerequisite subjects will be considered for admission. Students must have completed a Grade 12 graduation in an accredited high school. English proficiency requirements: IELTS - overall 6.5, no band below 6.0, TOEFL - overall 88, with minimum 21 on speaking and 21 on writing, MELAB - overall 85, no other part under 80, CAEL - overall 70, no other band score under 60, IELP Level 5 - Successful completion of Level 5 of the Brock Intensive English Language program.
