O que eu aprenderei?

Speech Sciences is an interdisciplinary program with courses from Linguistics, Psychology, and the School of Audiology and Speech Sciences. You'll study research methods, language structure, child development and language acquisition, anatomy and physiology, experimental psychology, and instrumental phonetics.

The Speech Sciences program is designed to prepare you for graduate work in speech-language pathology or audiology. The program has an interdisciplinary structure administered by the Linguistics Department, with courses from Linguistics, Psychology, and the School of Audiology and Speech Sciences.

You will study research methods, language structure, child development and language acquisition, anatomy and physiology, experimental psychology, and instrumental phonetics. Coursework focusses on normal language. Work on language disorders is not generally undertaken until the graduate program.

Applicants must have Successful completion of the Diploma with a minimum score of 24 points including at least three Higher Level courses as well as additional points for Extended Essay and Theory of Knowledge. Other English language requirements: CAE(Certificate in Advanced English ): Minimum score  of B; CAEL(Canadian Academic English Language assessment): Overall score  of 70; TOEFL Paper-based test with the TWE (Test of Written English): ): Minimum score  of 55 each for Reading, Listening, and Writing (4.0 on TWE); MELAB(Michigan English Language Assessment Battery with the MELAB Oral Interview): 85 final score with 3 in the speaking test; PTE(Pearson Test of English (Academic)): Overall score: 65, Reading: 60, Listening: 60, Writing: 60, Speaking: 60.

Graduation from a university-preparatory program at a senior secondary school: Higher Secondary School Certificate awarded on completion of Standard XII. Certificates must be official. Photocopies are acceptable if certified by school principal, head, or counsellor. Notarized copies are not acceptable.

English Language Admission Standard: Canadian Academic English Language assessment - Overall 70; Cambridge English Qualifications – 180; UBC Certificate in English – 600; International English Language Testing System (Academic) - 6.5, with no part less than 6.0; Pearson Test of English (Academic) - Overall: 65, Reading: 60, Listening: 60, Writing: 60, Speaking: 60; Test of English as a Foreign Language Internet-based test - Overall: 90, Reading: 22, Listening: 22, Writing: 21, Speaking: 21.
