This specialization equips you with the knowledge and understanding to effectively reach your future customers. Learn techniques and best practices in consumer behaviour and decision making, leverage digital platforms to spread your message, and master social media for enterprises – all to successfully reach and build relationships with your target audience.

Graduating students who have fulfilled the requirements for a Bachelor of Business Administration degree may apply for a Specialization in Marketing & Consumer Culture, if they have successfully completed 4 credits from a core set of courses with a minimum grade of 65% in each course. Course topics include Market Research, Marketing, Advertising, Retail Marketing, Branding, Communications, Organizational Analysis, Online Marketing, and Operations Management.

Resume Boosters:

  • Leave your mark at Trent through a fourth-year legacy project or undertake a community-based research project with local businesses
  • Complete 100-hours of hands-on professional experience with a local business through the fourth year placement course or consider the fourth year internship course, a 6, 8 or 12 month paid work opportunity with companies or organizations in Ontario (a break in your studies between your second last and last term) and students must return to Trent after the internship for their final term.
  • Compete in local and national business competitions, including Jeux du Commerce, Pitch It, Durham Ideas Den, and Bears’ Lair

Student must complete High School diploma (or equivalent) qualification.

English Language Proficiency Tests:

  • TOEFL: minimum score of 86 IBT with a minimum writing score of 20 OR 580 PBT with a minimum TWE score of 4.5.
  • IELTS: minimum score of 6.5, with no band below 6.0
  • CAEL: minimum score of 60
  • Cambridge B2 First, C1 Advanced/C2 Proficiency (Certificate of Advanced English): 176, with no sub-score below 169
  • Pearson PTE Academic: minimum score of 59
