O que eu aprenderei?

In this pathway program, students are introduced to the humanities and social sciences while building essential skills for employment. With an emphasis on critical thinking and analytical skills, students develop the academic skills and abilities to continue their studies at the college or university level. While in the program, students gain skills and confidence, learn how to thrive in a post-secondary environment, and make informed decisions about their career path.

Program Learning Outcomes

The graduate has reliably demonstrated the ability to:

  • reflect on knowledge gained in a wide range of Liberal Studies subjects, and their impact on both self and society;
  • communicate both orally and in written form at a level required for entry level employment and further studies;
  • apply critical thinking processes and problem solving techniques to career development, academic environments, and personal experiences;
  • examine and evaluate various aspects of our changing world to assist in developing a sense of personal and social responsibility as a citizen in society;
  • assess the effect of personal decisions and actions on the environment;
  • employ entrepreneurial strategies to identify and respond to new opportunities;
  • explore the impact of colonization on Indigenous cultures and communities.

Career opportunities

Upon graduation, students are eligible to pursue university studies in their chosen fields or transition into another college program, with significant college-to-college credit transfer. Students can also choose to continue from the one-year certificate to the two-year diploma in General Arts and Science. Graduates of the program may find employment in occupations requiring a liberal studies education or with organizations that prefer to administer their own training program.
