O que eu aprenderei?

During this foundation year, students embark on a personal journey of discovery. Students develop a solid academic base, assess education and career options, and develop self-management skills. Through Indigenous language and teachings, students explore their sense of cultural identity. Traditional teachings and smudging are integrated daily throughout each academic semester in social activities, individual program courses, and Traditional Teacher/Elder visits.

Program Learning Outcomes

The graduate has reliably demonstrated the ability to:

  • articulate aspects of one's identity in order to embark on a path towards a lifelong wellness journey;
  • examine personal accountability, professionalism, and ethical behaviour;
  • identify generational factors that contribute to health, social, entrepreneurial and economic issues affecting Indigenous communities;
  • discuss cultural awareness and sensitivity through an exploration of Indigenous culture, language, tradition, and healing;
  • show awareness of cultural diversification;
  • plan and prepare a variety of communications and presentations;
  • identify environmental sustainable practices in the community to preserve the culture and traditions.
