If you're interested in what it takes to provide enterprise-level front line support, enrol in our Computer Systems Technician IT program. You'll develop skills to manage and support users while supporting and liaising with other members of an IS team.


IT courses in our Computer Systems Technician program will provide you with intermediate knowledge and experience to support a multivendor environment, including:

  • Supporting operating systems such as Windows and Linux
  • Networking - switching, routing, WAN, wireless, VoIP support
  • Web server support
  • Supporting databases
  • Service desk management
  • Disaster recovery strategies

In addition to your newly acquired technical skill set, you'll have the opportunity to gain excellent communication, problem-solving and teamwork skills through a variety of learning experiences that our IT courses provide. These combined skill sets are in-demand and necessary to support the complex, multi-vendor information systems of today.


Upon successfully completing the Computer Systems Technician IT program, graduates will have the knowledge to explore several industry IT courses and certifications such as Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) and Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA). Additionally, a graduate's combination of technical and non-technical skill set makes them a desirable candidate for employers.

Program Description

The Computer Systems Technician program is a two-year accredited Ontario College Diploma program which provides comprehensive training for students wishing to work in the high demand areas of workstation, server, application, network and security support. This program provides students the ability to think critically, solve problems and acquire new skills quickly.
Under the guidance of expert faculty, combined with the use of leading edge labs, the program emphasizes the hands-on installation and configuration of workstations, servers and networking equipment. Students will also be expertly trained in current operating systems from Microsoft as well as Linux. The program also focuses in on the installation and configuration of web servers, database servers, mail servers, IT security, effective communication, problem solving and teamwork skills.
Upon completion of the program, and in addition to the highly valued Ontario College Diploma, graduates should have the knowledge and skills to take exams for the following certification, if they choose to do so: Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA). Graduates may also choose to apply the knowledge gained to prepare and test for other industry certifications, such as those offered for Microsoft, Linux and VMWare.

Applicants whose first language is not English will be required to demonstrate proficiency in English by one of the following methods:

  • A Grade 12 College Stream or University Stream English credit from an Ontario Secondary School, or equivalent, depending on the program's Admission Requirements
  • Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) test with a minimum score of 550 for the paper-based test (PBT), or 79 for the Internet-based test (iBT), with test results within the last two years
  • International English Language Testing System (IELTS) test with an overall score of 6.0 with no score less than 5.5 in any of the four bands, with test results within the last two years
  • Canadian Academic English Language (CAEL) test with an overall score of 60 with no score less than 50 in any of the four bands, with test results within the last two years
  • Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE) with a minimum score of 53, with test results within the last two years
