Program Overview
The Electrical Engineering Technician program prepares graduates to apply electrical theory and related knowledge to design, test, troubleshoot and modify electrical machinery and electrical control equipment and circuitry in industrial or commercial plants and laboratories. They are able to solve problems related to generating, distributing, transmitting and using electrical energy.
Program Highlights
Program delivered at the recently constructed Chatham Trades & Technology facility which houses up-to-date industrial equipment.
Well-balanced curriculum with a blend of theory and hands-on training.
Students are eligible for associate membership and possible certification through Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists (OACETT) as Certified Technicians (C.Tech.)
Career Opportunities
Graduates will find they are highly employable and will have opportunities with electrical utilities, communications companies, manufacturers of electrical and electronic equipment, consulting firms, and in governments and a wide range of manufacturing, processing and transportation industries. Graduates may find employment utilizing testing and troubleshooting skills in areas such as motor winding and repair, quality control, and as electrical construction/maintenance apprentices. As well, opportunities are available as utility power station technicians or service technicians troubleshooting electrical systems and performing engineering tests on heavy electrical equipment and controls.

IELTS overall band of 6.0.
PTE (Pearson Test of English) minimum score 60
TOEFL overall 83.
CAEL minimum score 60
CELPIP General 7.0 in each module.
