The Combined PharmD-MBA Program is a five-year combined degree offered by the Leslie Dan Faculty of Pharmacy and the Rotman School of Management

At the University of Toronto's Leslie Dan Faculty of Pharmacy and Rotman School of Management, this joint degree program combines business and pharmacy education to produce the leaders organizations need to win in healthcare today.

A powerful degree

Located in the heart of Canada’s business and financial centre, the Rotman School of Management is home to one of the highest ranked MBA programs in the world. Graduates from this program have become leaders in virtually every field – including pharmacy. The Rotman School of Management offers unique specializations, including MBA Majors in Health Sector Management, Leadership and Change Management, and Consulting that may be of particular interest to students in the combined PharmD-MBA program. Students in this highly regarded MBA program come from across Canada and around the globe, providing a diverse and unique learning and networking environment.

As the complexity of healthcare delivery increases, the need for pharmacists who also have management training and expertise will continue to grow. The Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree is the new standard in pharmacy education, combining in-class, laboratory, and experiential components to ensure that graduates have the knowledge, skills, and experience to succeed as front line healthcare providers. The Masters of Business Administration (MBA) degree is widely recognized as the premier degree in business worldwide; MBA graduates work in both the public and private sectors, and are able to blend their professional experience with additional knowledge and skills in business management.

Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 in the final year of a bachelor’s degree from a recognized university. Other English Language Requirements: TOEFL Paper-based Test Overall Score: 580, TWE: 4; Michigan English Language Assessment Battery (MELAB) score of 85, with no part score below 80; Cambridge English Proficiency/Certificate of Proficiency in English (CPE): 76 (with at least 22 in each component and 32 in the writing component).

Para estudantes internacionais

This program is ONLY offered to students who have completed at least one 4-year degree (e.g. BSc, BA, BComm, BEng) PRIOR to enrolling in the program at the Leslie Dan Faculty of Pharmacy. Students who have not yet completed a degree from an accredited university are not eligible to apply. Prior completion of a 4-year degree is a University of Toronto/Rotman School of Management requirement and is not negotiable.

International English Language Testing System (IELTS): The minimum requirement is an overall band of 6.5, with no band below 6.0.

Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL): The minimum scores required for the different TOEFL tests are:

Internet-based Test:

Minimum Requirement: total score of 100 + 22 on Writing

Discretionary Range: total score 89-99 +19 - 21 on Writing

Cambridge Assessment English C1: Advanced or C2: Proficiency: A minimum overall score of 180, with at least 170 in each component.

Canadian Academic English Language Assessment (CAEL): The minimum score required to meet our English facility requirement is an overall score of 70 and no part below 60.

Canadian Test of English for Scholars and Trainees (CanTEST): The minimum requirement is a total score of 4.5, and no part below 4.
