O que eu aprenderei?

Fight crime with data. Use your interest and aptitude in data and statistical analysis to help protect your community. You’ll learn to examine patterns of criminal behaviour to predict activity, identify threats in your community, and help to allocate your organization’s resources most effectively.

This field continues to evolve as technological advancements and the generation of digital information plays an increasingly influential role in detecting and preventing crime. Data from emails, videos, chat files, and text messages are just some of the mass amounts of data that can be used to gain valuable information. You have the flexibility to study in-class or online so you can continue to work and earn while you learn.

Employment Opportunities

Crime analysts work for a variety of law enforcement, intelligence, research, government, and a variety of other organizations. Crime analysts also work with the financial sector in areas such as private investigation, insurance investigation and fraud investigation. Common tasks involve analyzing intelligence, predictive modeling, mining data from primary and secondary sources, analyzing and interpreting results, pinpointing and predicting trends, providing concise reports, and designing, creating and maintaining databases.

Applicants must be graduates of a diploma, advanced diploma, or degree from an Ontario College or equivalent. English Language Scores: IELTS 6.5 (no band under 6.0), TOEFL 570 (paper-based test) 84 (internet based test) and PTE (Pearson) 61.

Required:

  • Any grade 12 mathematics (C) or (U) (MCT4C is highly recommended)

Highly Recommended:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel

Students who do not possess the foundational math will need to take the bridging course/s prior to registration. Please contact the program coordinator for more information about math upgrading options at Cambrian.
