Program Overview

The graduate program in Psychology at Queen’s is internationally renowned for its excellent faculty and students, innovative training and value of its research, scholarship and skill development. We have designed our graduate programs in Clinical Psychology, Developmental Psychology, Social/Personality Psychology and Brain, Behaviour, and Cognitive Science to emphasize research skills and scholarship, preparing you for an academic career or for research posts in government, industry and other sectors.


The clinical program provides internship opportunities to students. Training is provided in the scientist practitioner model and in diverse clinical and research fields. Students can also avail travel opportunities by attending conferences across North America and Europe, although no specific travel program is available.

Academic Prerequisites: 4-year bachelor’s honour degree in any discipline. Minimum upper second-class standing (B+/GPA 3.3), over the last two years of study), and demonstrated evidence of strong academic potential. For international students, if required, a TOEFL total score of at least 600 (paper-based) or TOEFL iBT minimum scores of: writing (24/30); speaking (22/30); reading (22/30); listening (20/30), for a total of 88/120. Applicants must have the minimum score in each test as well as the minimum overall score.

Para estudantes internacionais

Students must have 4-year Honours undergraduate degree in Psychology; Honours thesis preferred; Applications from adjacent degrees such as Cognitive Science and Social Behavior will also be considered.

English language requirements

Applicants must have TOEFL Internet-based Test (TOEFL iBT): The minimum overall score is 88, made up of the minimum scores in each component test as follows: Writing test: 24/30; Speaking test: 22/30; Reading test: 22/30; Listening test: 20/30; MELAB: 80 (minimum overall score); IELTS: 7 (minimum score, academic module); PTE Academic: 65 (minimum overall score).
