MA in Musicology and Musicology (with Performance) University of Victoria

Students must Meet the minimum admission requirements of the Faculty of Graduate Studies; Have completed a bachelor’s degree in engineering or related fields from an academic institution recognized by the University of Victoria; Meet the English language requirements; Have a minimum GPA of 7.0/9.0 (A- grade) on UVic?s scale, or 80-84% range. English Language Proficiency requirement: The minimum acceptable TOEFL score for international applicants is an overall score of 90 on the Internet Based TOEFL (IBT), with a minimum score of 20 in each of the listening, speaking, reading and writing sections. The minimum overall IELTS score is band 6.5 with a minimum score of 6.0 in each band.

Academic requirements for entrance:

• A BMus or BA in music or its equivalent from a recognized university (Musicology, Performance & Composition)
• A BMus, BSc, BEng or BA in music or its equivalent from a recognized university (Music Technology)
• At least a B+ average in the last two years (30 units) of undergraduate study

English Language requirements:

• TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) - Require a minimum of 90 with the following minimum section requirements: Listening 20; Speaking 20; Reading 20; Writing 20. The minimum acceptable TOEFL score is 575 on the paper-based test. Individual departments may set a higher standard.
• IELTS (International English Language Testing System) - A minimum Overall Band Score of 6.5, with no score of less than 6.0 on each individual component on the Academic IELTS is required.
• MELAB (Michigan English Language Assessment Battery) - A score of 90 on the MELAB will be accepted
