Program Overview
Queen’s University’s Department of Economics and Faculty of Law have partnered to offer a combined program that allows students to obtain both a Master of Arts in Economics (M.A.) and Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree in three years.
Opportunities
The program provides highly-focused interdisciplinary training for students interested in the many areas where law and economic analysis intersect, for example international trade law and policy, corporate law and policy, competition law and policy, environmental and resource management and tax law and policy.

Combined M.A./J.D. students will receive excellent training and gain a strong comparative advantage to pursue both general legal careers as well as specialized legal work that requires knowledge of economic theory and social science methods, high-level policy work and academia.

Applicants must have TOEFL Internet-based Test (TOEFL iBT): The minimum overall score is 88, made up of the minimum scores in each component test as follows: Writing test: 24/30; Speaking test: 22/30; Reading test: 22/30; Listening test: 20/30; MELAB: 80 (minimum overall score); IELTS: 7 (minimum score, academic module); PTE Academic: 65 (minimum overall score).
