Health Practitioner Teacher Education (HPTE) is an area of growing interest as, the expectation for skills training in pedagogy and certification of teaching become the norm for university instructors around the world. The MScCH (HPTE) addresses the practical high quality education needs of health professionals locally, nationally and internationally.
Two complementary trends within the health professions underscore the need for this degree:
In the regulated health professions, continuous upgrading of individual’s knowledge and practice as a condition of licensure and/or accreditation requires an enlarging cadre of expert teachers and program directors
The emphasis on evidence-based practice necessitates that timely transmission of emerging knowledge from research findings to learners and practitioners in the field

A bachelor's degree from a recognized university in a public health specialty and/or one of the regulated health professions in Ontario with the equivalent of a minimum mid-B average in the final academic year.
Relevant academic preparation and professional experience as a public health, community, or clinical practitioner.
Some fields (i.e., Family and Community Medicine, Occupational Health Care, and Wound Prevention and Care) require appropriate certification/licensure in a regulated health profession and may require a valid license to practise in Canada or the student's home jurisdiction.
International English Language Testing System (IELTS): The minimum requirement is an overall band of 6.5, with no band below 6.0.
Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL): The minimum scores required for the different TOEFL tests are:
Internet-based Test:
Minimum Requirement: total score of 100 + 22 on Writing
Discretionary Range: total score 89-99 +19 - 21 on Writing
Cambridge Assessment English C1: Advanced or C2: Proficiency: A minimum overall score of 180, with at least 170 in each component.
Canadian Academic English Language Assessment (CAEL): The minimum score required to meet our English facility requirement is an overall score of 70 and no part below 60.
Canadian Test of English for Scholars and Trainees (CanTEST): The minimum requirement is a total score of 4.5, and no part below 4.
