O que eu aprenderei?

Modern developments in sustainable catalytic chemistry from the focus of the "Catalysis for Sustainable Synthesis" doctoral programme at the University Gottingen and the Technical University Braunschweig. This degree programme in the English language is directly connected with one of the research foci of the Faculty of Chemistry. This doctoral programme is characterized by excellent research possibilities, renowned supervisors, international partners and a thematically co-ordinate programme of studies. The Lower Saxony Ministry of Science and Culture supports the study programme by awarding a number of scholarships.

Within the scope of the English study programme "Catalysis for Sustainable Synthesis" (CaSuS), the doctoral candidates undertake research in interdisciplinary projects in the field of catalytic chemistry, working in nine research groups of the Gottingen Faculty of Chemistry and five research groups of the TU Braunschweig.

Research projects range from the design of new types of molecular catalysts and the elucidation of fundamental reaction mechanisms to the synthesis of polymers or natural substances with a focus on industrial applications. Many of the projects require close interdisciplinary cooperation between individual research groups. Intensive support and a critical analysis of results at collaborative events allow the groups to make rapid progress with their work.

The carefully selected teaching programme comprises lectures and block courses on important aspects and methods of catalytic chemistry. Furthermore, the programme also includes a doctoral seminar and conferences in which students present their research results and therefore acquire highly important skills. Close cooperation with partner institutes such as the Institute Catala d'Investigacio Quimica (ICIQ) in Tarragona (Spain) or the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor makes it possible to conduct research activities abroad.
