The division has been offering post-graduation programmes and carrying out advanced research and consultancy projects in various areas of Geotechnical Engineering. Major areas of research in the Geotechnical engineering includes Physico-chemical behavior of soils, strength and deformation behavior of soils, soil dynamics and earthquake engineering and machine foundations, soil stabilization, stone/sand columns, reinforced earth, Geosynthetics, environmental geotechnique and waste disposal, unsaturated soil mechanics, rock mechanics, Numerical methods in geotechnical engineering.

Foreign Nationals who got degree from India - Master's degree in Engineering/Technology with a good academic record or a Master's degree by Research in engineering/Technology with a good academic record and a valid GATE score or qualified in NET (CSIR / UGC) /NBHM / CAT / AIMA or Equivalent with GRE/GMAT/TOEFL. Master’s degree in Sciences with a good academic record and of exceptional merit where eligible, for the relevant Engineering discipline and a valid GATE score or qualified in NET (CSIR / UGC) /NBHM / CAT / AIMA or equivalent with GRE/GMAT/TOEFL.
