O que eu aprenderei?

The Bachelor of Arts is a highly flexible degree that allows a wide range of choices from major and minor subjects or specialisation pathways, as well as courses from other degrees.

Economics: Economics studies how people and societies make decisions in the production, distribution, and consumption of goods and services.

Overview: Economics is the study of how people behave and make decisions — how we use our resources, how we deal with issues like climate change, which career we choose, and more. These decisions involve trade-offs between costs and benefits, and we are constantly considering these in our everyday life. At UC, there are lots of opportunities to gain experience including industry projects, internships, clubs, and overseas study trips.

What will my study involve:

Learn about the impact of your choices on the world, and how foreign countries impact Aotearoa New Zealand’s economy. Work experience may be available in your final year. Economics major and minor is available in many degrees so you can combine studies with other relevant areas such as Finance, Political Science and International Relations, and Psychology.

Career Opportunities:By analysing the impact of choices by government, consumers, and businesses, you will learn important skills like critical thinking, understanding risk, and forecasting to help make better decisions. Career pathways could include: professional economist market research data analyst banking and investment.

Applicants must have completed New Zealand University Entrance through NCEA; or Cambridge International Examinations (CIE); or International Baccalaureate Diploma (IB) or any other equivalent overseas qualification.

Applicants must also satisfy our English language entry requirements:

  • IELTS (Academic): Academic with an average score of 6.0, with a minimum of 5.5 in reading, writing, listening, and speaking.
  • TOEFL (IBT): Total minimum score of 80, with at least 19 in reading, writing and listening. Please note UC only accepts TOEFL iBT scores from a single test date, not My Best scores.
  • PTE (Pearson Test of English - Academic): PTE with an overall score of 50 and no PTE communicative skills score below 42.
  • CAE or CPE: Minimum score of 169 with at least 162 in reading, writing, listening, and speaking.
  • CCEL EAP: Level 2 with a minimum C+ grade.
  • Language Cert: B2 Communicator (LRWS) overall with High Pass.

Applications after the deadline date (8 December) will be considered if places are available.
