Develop the advanced skills you’ll need for higher roles in the security sector with UCOL’s New Zealand Certificate in Security (Advanced) (Level 4). With UCOL's New Zealand Certificate in Security (Advanced) (Level 4), you will gain advanced operational and technical skills, as well as the experience and knowledge to meet the security sector's unique needs.   • Equivalent academic achievement (includes the New Zealand Certificate in Security (Foundation) Level 3) OR
  • On case by case basis at the discretion of the Executive Dean

Pre-requisite entry requirement:

Programme entry requires unit standards 27360, 27361 and 27364 as a prerequisite and
to be eligible for a Certificate of Approval, under the Private Security Personnel and Private Investigators Act 2010 (section 33), all applicants are required to:

  • Be 18 years of age by the end of the programme
  • Undertake a Criminal History Check (not all offences will prohibit entry)

Applicants whose first language is not English must have a General or Academic IELTS score of 5.5 with no band score lower than 5 (or equivalent including TOEFL). IELTS scores must be taken from a single IELTS Test Report Form (i.e. combining scores from more than one test is not permissible). TOEFL (iBT) score of 46 (with a writing score of 14); Cambridge B2 First (for Schools), C1 Advanced, C2 Proficiency: B2 with score of 162; no less than 154 in each skill; OET: Minimum Grade C or 200 in all subtests; PToE (Academic) score of 42 with no band less than 36.
