O que eu aprenderei?

KAIST Graduate School of Medical Science and Engineering (GSMSE) is a Ph.D. program for physician-scientists who have graduated from medical schools, dental schools or oriental medicine schools. The mission of GSMSE is to educate and train physician-scientists to lead tomorrow’s biomedical research by bridging the gap between basic medical research and clinical medicine.

The KAIST Graduate School of Medical Science & Engineering (KAIST GSMSE) aims to understand the fundamental mechanisms of human diseases and to deliver new insights in the field of biomedical science that change the course of biology and medicine. Our department is driven by a collective of biomedical scientists who share the same vision, but with diverse expertise in molecular and cell biology, immunology, metabolism, neuroscience and genetics/genomics and clinical medicine.

In order to perform biomedical research of superior quality, interdisciplinary efforts with participation by medical doctors are essential. The importance of MD scientists in research will increase even more in the future. The collaborative research driven by excellent medical scientists promise to produce innovative outcomes that can significantly enhance our understanding of biomedical science and will advance our technology to develop better therapeutics and medical equipment.

International applicants must not have citizenship of Korea. Korean citizens who hold dual citizenship are not eligible to apply as international students. Applicants will hold a bachelor’s and master’s degree. Neither of the applicant’s parents are not citizens of Korea. Applicants received entire elementary, junior high, high school, and undergraduate education outside of Korea and also received a master’s degree in or outside of Korea at the comparable and equivalent level of those provided in Korea.

International applicants must not have citizenship of Korea. Korean citizens who hold dual citizenship are not eligible to apply as international students. International candidates must meet ALL of the following requirements: (1) He or she holds or will hold a bachelor’s and master’s degree (for doctoral applicant) or, he or she holds or will hold a bachelor’s degree (for master’s applicant). (2) He or she is not a citizen of Korea. International applicants of Korean ethnicity, regardless of birthplace, MUST additionally satisfy ONE of the following two requirements. Neither of the applicant’s parents are not citizens of Korea or; The applicant must have received his/her entire elementary, junior high, and high school education outside of Korea at the comparable and equivalent level of those provided in Korea (for master’s applicants) or, he or she received entire elementary, junior high, high school, and undergraduate education outside of Korea and also received a master’s degree in or outside of Korea at the comparable and equivalent level of those provided in Korea (for doctoral applicants). Applicants must meet one of the English proficiency test minimum score requirements: TOEFL iBT 83 (PBT 560, CBT 220), IELTS 6.5 band (Academic mode), TOEIC 720 (Listening & Reading), TEPS 599/New TEPS 326.
