O que eu aprenderei?

Over the last few decades, biology has developed its natural history approach into that of an experimentally focused discipline. Its goal is the elucidation of structure, function and interactions of macromolecules, as well as understanding entire molecular networks and cell interactions. In daily work, the latest methods and technologies are applied.

Structure

In the Master’s degree programme the focus is on experimental research. Two thirds of the time are used for practical work (two project theses of 12 weeks and a master thesis of six months duration). The experimental project work is complemented by various lectures. Students choose one of the nine specialisations listed below and attend the appropriate courses:

  • Biochemistry
  • Plant Biology
  • Systems Biology
  • Molecular and Structural Biology
  • Biological Chemistry

To be eligible for admission to a Master's degree programme at ETH Zurich you need to have a high-quality Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 180 ECTS or an equivalent first academic degree from an internationally recognized university. Other English language requirements: Cambridge Proficiency (CPE) - Required minimum C1 (grade C); required minimum C2 (grade C); Cambridge Advanced (CAE) - Required minimum C1 (grade B); CAE not recognized as level C2.

Para estudantes internacionais

The students must satisfy the following criteria:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent first degree from an internationally recognised university
  • The Bachelor's degree is based on at least three years of study (full-time equivalent) or 180 credits ECTS (European credit transfer system), respectively. 1 credit ECTS corresponds to a workload of 25-30 hours.
  • The Bachelor's degree qualifies the holder to enter, without additional requirements, Master's degree programs at a university within the education system where the Bachelor's degree was acquired.

  • IELTS Academic: Required minimum C1 (7.0); required minimum C2 (8.0)
  • TOEFL Internet-based: Required minimum C1 (100); required minimum (C2) (110)
  • Cambridge Proficiency (CPE) - Required minimum C1 (grade C); required minimum C2 (grade C)
