O que eu aprenderei?

Our MSc Analytical Bioscience provides hands-on experience and training in a wide range of analysis techniques and instrumentation used in the molecular biosciences, biomedical and pharmaceutical sectors. It is designed to allow flexibility in attendance requirements and offers the opportunity to complete a novel research project in one of our excellent research laboratories.

ASSESSMENT

Assessment is an integral part of your university studies and usually consists of a combination of coursework and examinations, although this will vary from course to course - on some of our courses, assessment is entirely by coursework. The methods of assessment on this course are specified below under 'Methods of assessment on this course'. You will need to allow time to complete coursework and prepare for exams.

CAREERS AND EMPLOYABILITY

Graduates go on to careers in the health sector, academic research, toxicology and pharmaceuticals. Possible professions include analytical chemist, biomedical scientist, research scientist (life sciences), or toxicologist. This degree can also be useful in becoming a clinical research associate, science writer, or scientific laboratory technician.

For entry onto a Master’s Degree, most US students would need to have completed a Bachelor’s degree with at least a 3.2 GPA (for courses requiring a 2:1); students from highly ranked institutions may also be considered with a GPA of 3.0/4.0. For courses requiring a 2:2, a GPA of 2.8 is required; The terms below are used to recognise students with particularly high GPAs: Cumulative GPA 3.9 (alternative name: Summa cum laude); Cumulative GPA 3.7 (alternative name: Magna cum laude); Cumulative GPA: 3.5 (alternative name: Cum laude). Applications are considered on an individual basis and students may be admitted to Master's programmes with a lower level degree if they have work experience relevant to the degree applied for.

Para estudantes internacionais

A second-class honours degree (2:2) or above in a scientific subject. Less qualified students may be accepted if they have appropriate work experience, or through registration on the Postgraduate Diploma with the possibility of upgrading to the MSc after achieving appropriate results in the first set of examinations. If English is not your first language or you have not previously studied in English, the requirement for this programme is the equivalent of an International English Language Testing System (IELTS Academic Test) score of 6.5, with not less than 6.0 in each of the sub-tests.
