**This 3 year degree is validated and delivered by Liverpool Hope University at Carmel College, St. Helens.** This full time honours degree is taught via a combination of face-to face and online sessions. Usual attendance for taught sessions is up to **2 evenings per week from 6pm-9pm**. It is also expected that students undertake online activities and independent study. As a full time student you should aim to study for about 35 hours a week during term time. The undergraduate programme in **Early Childhood** Studies provides a higher level of academic study that will extend your knowledge and understanding of children in their early years. We hope to ignite your curiosity as we explore young children’s development and interaction with the world and that in understanding the inequalities that children face locally and globally, you will grow as advocates for young children’s needs and rights.The Early Childhood team aim to provide a stimulating and supportive learning environment for all our students through a high level of tutor support, access to exceptional University resources and engagement with our multidisciplinary teaching team with wide experience in research, practice and policy in the field. Together with the vital ingredient of your commitment as a student, these elements will enrich your learning experience.Studying **Special Educational Needs (SEN)** with Liverpool Hope University will enable you to understand the relationship between disability and education and provide you with the knowledge and confidence to educate others about the nature of disability. SEN incorporates insights from disability studies and education, as well as drawing on work in the arts and humanities, to ensure you gain a broad and balanced understanding of education in a wide range of contexts.A central aspect of the course is an understanding of medical and social constructions of Special Educational Needs and Disability, the legal requirements regarding provision for SEN/ Disability and a critical understanding of past and contemporary practices. By completing your studies in SEN, you will have gained a knowledge and understanding of the global perspectives on special education and disability and issues relating to children and families, as well as having the ability to critically engage with professional expertise.
