Study the History of Art and Scottish Literature in equal depth with this joint honours programme. **History of Art** History of Art will introduce you to art from different periods and world cultures. You will: - learn how, and for whom, works of art were made - situate artworks within visual and material culture more broadly - explore the meanings of works of art and visual culture and the ways they continue to be interpreted In Years 3 and 4, you will have the opportunity to:- specialise in particular aspects of the field- develop independent research projects- complete a dissertationIn Year 3 you will have the opportunity to study abroad. **Scottish Literature** Studying Scottish Literature will develop your: - critical skills - analytic skills - linguistic skills - creative skills You will study a broad range of texts and different approaches to reading. You will gain an understanding of the cultural contexts of all major periods of Scottish literature, from the late middle-ages to the present. **Why Edinburgh** We are the oldest department of English Literature in the UK and one of the longest established in the world. We are also proud to be based in the heart of the first UNESCO World City of Literature. From Arthur Conan Doyle to Muriel Spark, many of Scotland's greatest writers have called the city home. History of Art and Scottish Literature complement each other well:- Many ideas and movements are shared across the visual arts and literature, in particular historical periods.- Both subjects also benefit from shared methodologies and historical contexts.

Minimum entry requirements in the standardised tests are: ACT score of 27 plus two AP scores at 4+ or two SAT subject tests at 650+; SAT score of 1290+ (650+ in Evidence based reading and Writing and 620+ in Math) plus two AP scores at 4+ or two SAT subject tests at 650+; 3 AP scores at 4+; 3 SAT Subject Test scores of 650+; A combination of the AP and SAT, such as 1 AP score at 4+ and 2 SAT Subject Tests at 650+. A combination of AP and SAT Subject tests are acceptable, provided they are in different subjects. For example, AP French and SAT Physics are acceptable as two scores, but AP French and SAT French are only considered once. Students with International Baccalaureate or French Baccalaureate will be considered. The Cambridge Advanced International Certificate of Education (AICE) Diploma is accepted for entry. The Diploma must include three Cambridge International A Levels achieved with points equivalent to the A Level grade requirements for the programme including required subjects. Many of our degree programmes require that you have some experience of the subject at high school. This means that one or more of your three standardised test scores must include specific subject requirements, such as an AP score or SAT subject test in a certain subject relevant to the degree you are applying to. Please refer the university website for details of the English Language requirements for entry to individual undergraduate degree programmes.
