This highly practical and intensive 1-year postgraduate programme offers training that will develop professional directors of the future. Directing students will observe, participate and work with the students on other programmes to deepen their understanding of the acting process.

The main area of study will be how to establish and develop a connection between actors with the Meisner & Stanislavsky process, how to think in pictures in the imagined world, how to work with objectives and events in a psycho-physical process, how to encourage the performers' inspiration and creativity.

Course Overview

The programme will also afford practical time for the student director to steadily hone the basic rudiments of directing with a series of studies, which will also enrich the performer’s experience of the subject with regular showings during the term.

The student director will work closely with directors and technical teams on Public Performances. They will also be encouraged to develop their own creative work during the course of the degree.

The possibilities of learning about the technical and stage management aspects of productions, marketing and booking tours as well as creating educational workshops will be deeply useful to prepare the student director for the industry and make them practically aware of all the essential roles that goes to producing a piece of professional theatre.
