TROY’s Bachelor of Science in Applied Health Science will provide you with training and options that can open a multitude of opportunities for future careers in the medical profession.
Consider your options
Within TROY’s applied health science program, you’ll have the opportunity to focus on four areas of knowledge and skill. The core of the program–based within the study of nursing—will create a firm foundation for any future health-related field you choose to enter. You may also choose to learn and explore within the applied health science program’s three other concentrations in the areas of communication, nutrition and humanities to further develop your area of interest in the medical profession. An additional option, as you work your way through the program, will be the ability to pursue a degree in nursing by applying to the nursing school with the proper GPA and required course completion.
Prepared for success
Led by skilled and knowledgeable faculty members, your course work within all four areas of study will ready you for a career focused on people’s health—whether you teach in an agency, work in an office or serve the public in hospitals and clinics. Your coursework will not only teach you about human anatomy and psychology, but you’ll also learn ways to communicate professionally and effectively within different environments and conditions. Your time will also be spent learning aspects of nutrition and health behavior, as well as sharpening your knowledge and understanding of human behavior and the importance of ethics within the health sciences industry.
Inside and outside the classroom
At TROY, we understand the importance of providing students with fulfilling in-class and in-field experiences, especially in relation to academic and career development. We take pride in our faculty members and the excellence they bring to their classrooms, and we celebrate students’ opportunities to work alongside professionals in their fields of interest. As you pursue a bachelor’s in applied health science, you’ll have the chance to work hands-on and learn from health professionals employed at local hospitals, clinics and service agencies. These men and women will help provide you with a better understanding of the various roles that make up a successful professional team.
