O que eu aprenderei?

Family and Consumer Sciences Teacher Concentration is a broad program including preparation in specific subject matter areas of family and consumer sciences and teaching. FCS Teacher focus on teaching child development, families, communications, food and nutrition, personal finances, housing, fashion and textiles in middle and high schools. This major prepares students to get certified to be an FCS Teacher. It is important to note that there is a nationwide shortage of FCS Teachers. Beginning teachers in Texas start at above $50,000 for a nine-month contract with benefits and retirement plan.

Majors choose one of three different degree plans. Students choosing the Consumer Affairs major with a concentration in personal financial management study personal financial decision making, consumer law, financial counselling, the role of the consumer in the economy and they select a minor. Students prepare for careers in financial services for individuals and families, financial counselling, consumer advocacy, or government agencies.

Students must have attended at least two years of school in the U.S. must provide SAT/ACT scores and meet regular freshman admission standards are as follows: Four credits of English; Four credits of Math; Four credits of Science; Three credits of Social Studies; Two credits of Foreign Language; One credit of Fine Arts; One credit of Physical Education.

Minimum Score for Regular Admission: Total: 78 (Each Section: 19; Except Writing: 18), TOEFL PBT: Total: 550, IELTS (Overall: 6.5; Each Section: 6.0), GCE/GCSE/IGCSE: Grade of "C", WASSCE: Grade of "B3".

An International Baccalaureate grade of 4 or higher in English A1 or A2 at the Higher Level or Standard Level or English B at the Higher Level is required for regular admission (predicted or actual).
