Hispanics are the fastest growing segment of the US population. Because of the resulting increases in demand for Spanish speaking professionals in almost every industry, adding Spanish language courses to your major or minoring in Spanish will make you more marketable after graduation.

Studying Spanish develops your linguistic and communication skills, and increases your understanding of the Latino and Hispanic cultures. Spanish classes for your major or minor to complement another program such as Business, Criminal Justice, Athletic Training, Health and more.

SRU offers both a major and a minor in our Spanish Professional program.

They incorporate the latest teaching methods technology effectively into the curriculum. While oral proficiency is emphasized, you will also learn to communicate effectively in writing. Content areas include language, literature, and culture from over 20 countries. Our classes offer you the opportunity to experience the diversity of the Spanish-speaking world.

Employers are looking for bilingual people, and over 30 million people in the United States speak Spanish as a first language. In addition to traditional fields such as translation and interpreting, your career options include criminal justice, health, business, journalism and government.

Para estudantes internacionais

International applicants who have not enrolled in any post secondary institution since graduating high school should apply as freshmen. Advanced standing may be considered for those students who have completed IB programs, GCE A-levels (advanced or advanced subsidiary) examinations.

English language requirements: Applicants must score a minimum of 61 on the internet based test (iBT), a minimum of 500 on the written test or a minimum of a 173 on the computer based test. Applicants must receive an overall IELTS score at band 6.0 or above.
