The graduate certificate in Computer Systems is offered jointly by the departments of Computer and Information Science and Electrical and Computer Engineering.
Upon completion of this certificate program, participants will have gained:
knowledge of tools, techniques, and theory associated with computer systems performance assessment
understanding of computer architectures and their trade-offs
breadth of knowledge in computer systems software
understanding of fundamental issues associated with computer systems engineering
The certificate also offers a route into UMassD's MS programs in Computer Engineering or in Computer Science.
Each certificate requires 15 credits of graduate course work with a focus on database systems, operating systems, networks, and performance evaluation.

Applicants must hold a baccalaureate degree in an appropriate field from an accredited (if U.S.) institution of higher learning or be enrolled in such a baccalaureate degree program, with degree completion anticipated prior to graduate enrollment. Applicants who lack a bachelor’s degree may be considered for admission, in some programs, if they can demonstrate convincingly that they have the equivalent of a baccalaureate degree in the discipline of their choice.
We require a minimum score of 72 IBT on the TOEFL or BAND 6.0 on the IELTS for entrance to any program and a minimum score of 79 IBT on the TOEFL or BAND 6.5 on the IELTS for consideration for a teaching assistantship.
